Niomi joined the Creative Corner in 2015, bringing over 20 years of experience in the media industry.
A graduate of the WA Academy of Performing Arts, Niomi began her radio career presenting the RTR FM local music program Homegrown, combining her passion for music and radio. She was also the first on air presenter for Radio Lollipop, and trained Princess Margaret Hospital volunteers in the art of broadcasting.
Niomi currently presents the Saturday Breakfast program for ABC South West Radio and produces a number of ABC Local Radio programs.
A sea change to Margaret River in 1993 saw a pause from radio and a new focus on event management. Niomi has coordinated a number of large scale community festivals in the south west and ran Smart Events Inc for seven years.
In her spare time Niomi fulfills her lifelong love of textiles and design. Her work has been commissioned in Perth since the days of Orphans on King Street and Liz Carberry’s Chinese Laundry in Subiaco. Today, her felted work is stocked at Found at the Fremantle Arts Centre.
As Executive Officer, Niomi will provide the Creative Corner direction on a broad range of projects, including broadening the current membership program, establishing a Creative Industry Directory, developing a mentor and internship program and managing the Creative Hub at the Margaret River Regional Education Campus.
Niomi’s event management experience will also come in handy for the annual Emergence Creative Festival in March.
